Boutique Bay Area Brokerage
For over five years, we served as the technical backbone for one of San Francisco's most prestigious luxury real estate brokerages. With 50+ agents, hundreds of active listings, and regular appearances on Million Dollar Listing: San Francisco, they needed a platform that could handle massive traffic surges while delivering the polished experience their high-end clientele expected. The site we built became instrumental in their eventual acquisition by Sotheby's International Realty.
A boutique brokerage representing some of the Bay Area's most luxurious properties—from prime condo buildings in downtown San Francisco to landmark estates throughout the region. Their agents regularly handled eight-figure transactions and appeared on national television showcasing the city's most exceptional real estate.
Luxury real estate operates differently than typical residential sales. Buyers expect a premium experience at every touchpoint. Agents need tools that make them look good. And when your brokerage appears on a hit TV show, your website needs to handle the sudden flood of traffic without breaking a sweat.
The brokerage came to us with ambitious requirements:
And then there was the TV factor. Million Dollar Listing: San Francisco meant unpredictable traffic surges—sometimes 10x normal volume—every time an episode aired.
We built a sprawling but cohesive platform that handled complexity without sacrificing speed or reliability:
Custom API integrations pulled listing data from MLS and other sources automatically. Listings appeared on the site within minutes of being entered into the system, complete with photos, specs, and mapping data. No manual entry, no sync delays.
Each of the 50+ agents got their own branded presence within the platform—personalized landing pages, their own listings, bio pages, and contact forms—all managed through a single system that maintained brand consistency while allowing individual customization.
We created dedicated sites for San Francisco's most desirable areas and buildings. These weren't just filtered listing pages—they were rich content experiences with neighborhood guides, building amenities, market data, and curated property selections.
An extensive mapping and filtering system let buyers search by neighborhood, price, bedrooms, building, view type, and dozens of other criteria. Results loaded instantly despite the complex queries running behind the scenes.
Every interaction—saved searches, property inquiries, showing requests, market report downloads—fed into a conversion system that routed leads to the appropriate agent and triggered follow-up sequences. The sales team could see exactly which properties a prospect had viewed before picking up the phone.
We built the platform to handle traffic spikes gracefully. Load balancers, CDN distribution for media assets, and elastic server capacity meant the site stayed fast even when a million viewers decided to look up a property they'd just seen on TV.
The platform we built served the brokerage for over five years, supporting their growth from a respected local firm to a nationally-recognized luxury brand. When Sotheby's International Realty acquired the company, the digital platform was explicitly cited as one of the crown jewels that made the acquisition attractive.
The site demonstrated that a boutique firm could compete digitally with national brands—and win.
